1st Visit at Triple Crown

I went to visit Turbo and his trainer at Triple Crown this weekend after 5 weeks in the Trainer dog program. What a huge improvement for Turbo and ALL of the dogs!! Turbo is more confident already, and his wonderful trainer, Laura, has learned so much about him. He loves Agility! And he dislikes the clicker used in clicker training. And he is pretty indifferent to playing with toys.

He looked wonderful-- I can't believe I didn't bring my camera! But next time I will.

TRIPLE CROWN!!!!!!!!

Oh my goodness.. Turbo has been accepted into the (now 16 week!) Triple Crown Dog Academy's Canine Training and Behavior Specialist Program!!!!! That means that Turbo will be the training dog of one of the professional dog trainer students who are enrolled in the program. This is an AMAZING opportunity for Turbo, and so we are going to say goodbye to him for now at his foster home. He is STILL AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION!!!-- and his new family will have the benefit of all of that amazing Triple Crown Training. We will post updates as we have them.

Turbo made amazing progress at our home. He is smart, loving, and friendly. We know he is going to SOAR at TC.

Meet & Greet

Turbo did really well at the last Meet & Greet and we plan to have him at the Great Hills Trail PETCO again this Sunday from 1-4 PM.

We are so happy that he is starting to get the attention he deserves! He is a wonderful dog and is going to be a super pet for some lucky family.

New Experiences

This week Turbo went to Taurus Training for for Doggy Playday for the first time! They report that he did very well. Turbo loves other dogs and people too. He seems a bit shy sometimes-- and even kind of silly and goofy!-- but he really enjoys life here in foster care and I am certain that once he finds his Forever Home he will have plenty of time and attention to settle in.

Turbo is:

Housebroken
Crate Trained
Working on leash training (he still pulls at the leash)
Great with dogs
Great with kids
OK with cats (he is curious and follows our cats who stand up to him... not sure if he would chase cats who run)
Friendly
Affectionate
Healthy
Past the "chewing stage"
SMART!

We would like to work on some more obedience training in the coming weeks, not because he is hard to live with (he isn't), but we think he would enjoy having those kinds of "jobs" to do.

I love Turbo!

Turbo has been a great dog this week. We just love having him here. He can get all of the puppies running in a circle around the yard! But no one is faster than Mr. Long-legs. He really has taken very well to life inside and has lovely home manners: no potty accidents, no chewing, no cat chasing. He is happy to share food and toys with other animals as well as kids. He is a little skittish about new things but seems quite happy and is getting more and more comfortable. He even does pretty well on a leash! He easily walked two miles with me in the early morning hours. He pulls a bit, but not bad at all for initial attempts. What a prince!! I will try to get some new photos tomorrow.

Turbo will be at the group's Meet & Greet at the Great Hills Trail PETCO from 1-4 PM Sunday.

Welcome, Turbo!

Turbo came home with us after the group's Meet & Greet this afternoon. Talk about a lot of changes in one day!! He left his rescue ranch home and spent all day at the Meet & Greet, then he took a car ride with us to Pet Supplies Plus for shopping, photo posing, and a bath, and then came to our Foster Home, filled with all kinds of people, dogs, and even cats!

I am already in puppy-love with Turbo. He is just the sweetest dog! I loved the way he just hopped into the car with us at the Meet & Greet... what trust. He also marched right into the store with us when we got to Pet Supplies Plus. But the metal wash tub was a bit much for him-- he was clearly terrified of the bath tub (though he sat patiently enough for the scrubbing and let me clean his eyes, ears, bottom, feet, teeth, tummy, and everything else without any resistance). We did it all as quickly as possible and skipped the blow drier to minimize his bath stress. When he was all done and we unrestrained him, he literally flew over the top of the tub and landed on his feet, ready to run for it! But once we left the bath area he was back to his easy-going self.

At home he was greeted by our Foster pack and fit right in. He played with Luci and Vegas (our resident pups) and had some dinner and acclimated himself to his new digs. He even had a chance to come nose-to-nose with one of the cats, which clearly scared Turbo more than the cat! At bedtime he went into his crate and never made a peep. Good, good, good boy, Turbo!!!
